- Soft dressing or splint if provided
- Ice over a cloth for palm discomfort
- Extra pillows to elevate the hand at night
- Loose gloves only if advised. Avoid tight compression on the incision
Before surgery
- Plan light meal prep; avoid heavy pans week one
- Set up voice-to-text if you type all day
- Ask when you may get the incision wet
- Clarify return-to-work for repetitive hand jobs
Remember
- Worsening numbness with new weakness, or wound drainage: call
- Do not do push-ups, heavy gripping, or yard work early
