From the Recovery Ready Team.
After hand or finger surgery, the big milestones get attention. In real life, it is the tiny jobs that wear people out: buttons, lids, phone screens, helping kids, opening doors.
Things that tend to help:
- Adaptive tools (button hooks, jar openers) feel silly until day two
- Keep dressings clean and dry, and know the shower plan before you need it
- Elevate when the hand throbs or swells
- Take hand therapy seriously when it starts. That is often where progress shows up
